FDL Man Not Competent To Stand Trial For Stepfather’s Beating
The 19-year-old Fond du Lac man suspected of beating his 73-year-old stepfather with a tire iron has been ruled not competent to stand trial. Fond du Lac County Judge Robert Wirtz made that ruling during a hearing Thursday ordering Ryan Robison to be committed for treatment. Robison was facing attempted homicide and other charges. Authorities say Gary Bloedorn suffered severe head injuries, broken ribs, a ruptured lung and other injuries in the attack at the Evergreen Village Apartments in Fond du Lac on January 15th. In addition part of a finger was severed in the attack. Robison was being represented by Attorney William Mayer.
Grothman Voting For Hagedorn In State Supreme Court Race
Congressman Glenn Grothman is voting for Judge Brian Hagedorn over Judge Lisa Neubauer in tomorrow’s State Supreme Court election. He says Hagedorn would be a good judge despite how negative advertising portray him. “They are attacking Justice Hagedorn for his participation in found a Christian School, which does not have gay employees and are focusing on his being pro-life.” Grothman says it would be a real shame if attack ads are successful against Hagedorn. He says it’s a dangerous path to go down. The federal lawmaker from Glenbeulah has already voted absentee for Hagedorn.
Voter Turnout Will Vary In FDL County Tuesday
Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says the spring election is usually less busy at the polls, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t important races and issues that need to be decided. She’s expecting a big turnout in Fond du Lac for a school referendum and there’s also a City Council race. “So I’m anticipating a good 40 percent turnout in that Fond du Lac School District, however in some of our towns and villages where they might have town board contests they just don’t have opposition and unfortunately people just chose not to come out and vote.” She says turnout will vary across the county with a school board race in Ripon, a town chairman race in the Town of Ripon, a school referendum in Oakfield, a Lakeside Municipal Court judge race, and the State Supreme Court race. She predicts 25 to 26 percent of registered voters in the county will go to the polls to vote on Tuesday.
Waupun Street Project Borrowing Approved
The Waupun Common Council recently approved a resolution for a bond issue to borrow up to $2.49 million. The money will fund several street and stormwater projects this year. Work on the project begins today with the goal of having that stretch of road available for the Waupun Truck and Show in August. Bids will be brought to the Common Council for their approval on April 30th. The bonds were issued for 10 years.
