Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Lieutenant Cameron McGee retired Monday after 31 years of service with the department. McGee retired as the head of the department’s detective division. He took the traditional ramp walk Monday reserved for long-time veterans of the department. McGee began working in the jail in 1988, starting in April of 1990 he became a patrol deputy and was promoted to sergeant in October of 1997. In February of 2000 he became a detective and was promoted to Lieutenant in April of 2010. He had worked under four Sheriff’s; Jim Gilmore, Gary Pucker, Mick Fink, and current Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt. Fink took the ramp walk himself in January, which was a dual ceremony that also swore in Waldschmidt as Sheriff.
