Sandy Cohen III had 21 points as Green Bay narrowly defeated Illinois-Chicago 82-77 in the quarterfinals of the Horizon Conference Tourney on Tuesday night.

JayQuan McCloud had 19 points for Green Bay (17-15). Trevian Bell added 15 points and Tank Hemphill had 12 points for the home team. Tarkus Ferguson had 22 points, seven rebounds and six assists for the Flames (16-16). Godwin Boahen added 17 points.

Green Bay will face Wright State in the semifinals of the tournament on March 11.

Meanwhile senior Sandy Cohen was named to the All-Horizon League men’s first team on Tuesday. Senior Jen Wellnitz was named the women’s Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year for the 2nd season in a row. She was also named to the all-league 1st team and all-defensive team. Fellow senior Laken James was selected to the All-Horizon 2nd team.

In Cactus League league play from Tuesday, the Brewers shut out the Rockies 1-0. Tyler Saladino drove in the game’s only run in the seventh inning. Milwaukee managed only six hits and Colorado had seven. Corbin Burnes started for the Brewers and went three innings, giving up three hits. Taylor Williams picked up the win and Miquel Sanchez notched his first save of the spring.

The Brewers play the White Sox today.

The Brewers will probably have to wait until 2020 to see what they have in hard-throwing reliever Bobby Wahl.

Wahl injured his right knee on March 1st throwing a pitch against the Mariners and the diagnosis is a torn ACL. It’s an exceedingly rare injury for a pitcher, one likely to require surgery that would sideline Wahl for most or all of the 2019 season. Wahl will exercise his right to a second opinion before proceeding.

The Brewers acquired the right-hander in the Jan. 5 trade that sent Keon Broxton to the Mets.

A trial date has been canceled for Green Bay Packers tight end Lance Kendricks on a misdemeanor marijuana possession charge, with a plea hearing now scheduled for May 13.

The 31-year old Kendricks was originally given a ticket after a September 2017 traffic stop in Outagamie County. However, the ticket was dropped and a criminal count was filed in October.

Court records show Kendricks was scheduled to stand trial on March 12-13. But at Tuesday’s hearing, the trial was canceled and a plea and sentencing hearing was placed on the calendar for May 13th .
