Murder In Beaver Dam

Beaver Dam Police are investigating a weekend shooting death as a homicide. Stacia F. Hollinshead of Sycamore, Illinois was shot to death inside a residence in the 300 block of East Third Street Saturday afternoon. The suspect has been identified as Ulisses W Medina Espinoza of Beaver Dam, who is being held in the Dodge County Detention Facility. Police Chief John Kreuziger says his office is working closely with the Dodge County District Attorney’s Office in determining charges. At a Saturday press conference, Kreuziger said there has never been a murder in the city in his 28 years with the department. Hollinshead was an Assistant State Attorney in Dekalb County, Illinois.

Ripon Common Council Notes

The Ripon Common Council last night approved an ordinance that removes the Village of Rosendale from the Lakeside Municipal Court. Ripon became part of the court at the beginning of the year. Rosendale is in the process of forming its own municipal court. The Council also transferred funds that weren’t used in 2018 to the 2019 Budget. The funds will be used for 15 different purposes including $8,000 the city budgeted in 2017 as part of its match for a grant for resurfacing of the Northwestern Trail. That money for the match was inadvertently omitted from an original resolution.

Slow No Wake

Green Lake County Sheriff’s officials are cautioning residents that the Fox River in Berlin is above flood stage. The County Ordinance enacting “Slow-No-Wake” is in place and notices are posted in the City of Berlin. Wakes of greater height and force, often caused by motorboating, increases shoreline erosion in areas of public and private property. Boaters are asked to respect the property of others and reduce their wake accordingly. Violators should be reported to the Green Lake County Sheriff’s Office with the registration number, type of boat, color, number of occupants, and direction of travel.

Senator Feyen Cohosting State Budget Listening Sessions

Senator Dan Feyen of Fond du Lac will be traveling throughout the 18th Senate District cohosting listening sessions to hear constituents’ thoughts and concerns regarding Governor Evers’ proposed budget. The first listening session will include State Representative Michael Schraa of Oshkosh and is tomorrow from 5 to 6 pm at the Waupun Public Library. A second session with State Representative Jeremy Thiesfeldt of Fond du Lac is Thursday, April 4th from 5 to 6 pm at the Fond du Lac City Council Chambers. The final session with State Representative Gordon Hintz of Oshkosh will be at the Oshkosh City Council Chambers from 4:30 to 5:30 pm on Monday, April 15th.

Funding Announced For Wittman Regional Aiport Projects

Governor Tony Evers Monday approved $618,000 in funding for planning and pavement projects at Wittman Regional Airport in Oshkosh. The majority, $400,000, is for a masterplan. The planning project is scheduled to begin in June 2019 and should be completed early 2021. The remaining $218,000 will pay for pavement maintenance. This summer work will begin to crack seal and microsurface airport pavements and will continue over the next year and a half. This work will extend the useful life of the pavement. The FAA will provide $556,200 for the two projects. The state and Winnebago County share of costs comes to $30,900 each.

FDL County Veterans Service Office Will Operate With Reduced Staff

The Fond du Lac County Veteran Service Office will be operating with reduced staffing April 8th through the 12th with only one person in the office. Office hours that week will be 8am to 12pm and 1pm to 4:30pm. The remaining staff will be at a training conference. In order for the office to operate with the best and most current information from the VA, they need to periodically receive training.
