Iowa Jury Convicts In Oshkosh Man’s Murder
A jury in Iowa rejected a man’s claim of self-defense in the murder of an Oshkosh man. Monday the jury found 49-year-old Rodney Henricksen guilty of second degree murder in the January 2018 death of Joshua Sadlon. Henricksen claimed Sadlon was drunk and made threats at a bar in Urbandale, Iowa and he should be protected under that state’s “stand your ground” law. But the jury didn’t believe that Henricksen’s life was threatened, which is the basis of the law.
Michigan Man Caught With Counterfeit Credit Cards In Columbia County
A 23-year-old Pontiac, Michigan man is facing 15 felony charges after he was caught with counterfeit credit cards during a traffic stop in Columbia County. In January Deshon Davis was arrested after giving a state trooper a false name. During the traffic stop on Interstate 39-90, the trooper found four phony credit and rewards cards that belonged to other people. Davis will be in court for an initial hearing on March 20th. If convicted he could get up to 50 years in prison.
Leo Frigo Bridge Pileup Starts With One Crash
Green Bay Police now suspect that one crash led to a 30-car pileup on the Leo Frigo Bridge Tuesday morning. Video released by the state’s DOT shows a vehicle losing control on a patch of ice in the far right lane. Other vehicles tried to avoid it, but lost control themselves. No one was killed or severely injured in the crash, but people were hurt. Police described conditions on the bridge at the time of the accident as being, “cold, windy, and slick.” The air temperature was around zero. The collision was reported at 7:45 am.
American Heart Month
State Representative Joan Ballweg of Markesan did a resolution last month in honor of American Heart Month. She says heart disease is a particular threat for women. “Cardiovascular Disease is the #1 killer of women in the United States so we are encouraging people to see their health care provider and get to know their particular numbers.” She says it is important to know your cholesterol level and whether your blood pressure is high. She notes that 80 percent of all cardiovascular issues can be mitigated by lifestyle like not smoking and getting regular exercise, and reducing stress.
Fish And Wildlife Hearings April 8th
DNR Spring Fish and Wildlife hearings and annual county meetings of the Wisconsin Conservation Congress will be held across the state on Monday, April 8th. Each meeting will begin at 7 pm. In Dodge County the meeting will be held at the Horicon Marsh DNR Education and Visitor Center, in Fond du Lac County at the Theisen Middle School in Fond du Lac, in Green Lake County at the Green Lake Elementary School, in Marquette County at the Montello High School, in Waushara County at the County Courthouse, and in Winnebago County at the Oshkosh North High School. This year the DNR will be presenting 49 proposed rule change questions.
