Nate Zimdars Runs For The Ripon School Board

27 March 2019 News

Ripon School Board candidate Nate Zimdars says he’s running for the board as a way of giving back for the great education he received through the district. He graduated in 2011 and went on to attend the UW-Fond du Lac and the UW-Madison majoring in History and Political Science. After that he taught English and worked at a dairy cooperative in the West African nation of Senegal. He continues to tutor and teach the importance of Agriculture in the classroom. Zimdars believes the school board made the right decision Monday night when they voted to support a Boys & Girls Club in Ripon, but not at a school facility. He says there are still a lot questions about a play-based charter school at Barlow Park Elementary School, but believes it is an additional pathway option for students. “So far from what I have seen through personally visiting Barlow Park, through seeing some of this structured play that we have spoken about and having those conversations with educators there are some pretty significant benefits for having some of this structured play and some of the proposals that come through this charter grant.” Zimdars also is a member of the Community Coalition on Youth Mental Health and believes mental health is an important issue for the whole community. Zimdars is one of four candidates running for three seats on the Ripon School Board.
