Incumbent Lakeside Municipal Court Judge Has Experience
7 March 2019 News
For the first time since the inception of the Lakeside Municipal Court in 1997 incumbent Judge Jerry Jaye is facing opposition in an election. Ripon Attorney Doug Iverson is opposing him in the April 2nd election. Jaye says you don’t need to be a lawyer to be a municipal court judge, but you do need to be familiar with some statutes and be able to deal with those who come before the court. “People skills, knowledge of statutes. Willingness to put in the time necessary because this court has been a passion for me I have no hidden agendas.” He says they dealt with nearly 10,700 cases last year and they do not deal with hardened criminals. Jaye is married with two grown daughters, 11 grand children, and 11 great-grandchildren. He is a former policeman with nearly 20 years of law enforcement experience in addition to his 22 years as a municipal court judge.
