Columbus Man Arrested In Marquette County For Seventh Drunken Driving Offense
A 38-year-old Columbus man was arrested for his seventh drunken driving offense late Wednesday morning on Interstate 39 in Marquette County. A state trooper got a complaint about an erratic driver that was heading north on the highway. The trooper caught up with the suspected driver, Jacob Price, at mile marker 110 and saw driving consistent with being impaired. When the vehicle was stopped the trooper noticed the smell of intoxicants and saw open containers in the vehicle. Price refused to take a field sobriety test and was placed under arrest. He was taken to the Marquette County Jail. He faces several traffic violations as well.
Shooting In Oshkosh
Oshkosh Police says a 27-year-old Oshkosh man who showed up at a local hospital with a gunshot wound to his foot was not being straight with them. So while checking on his story they got a search warrant for a residence in the 1400 Block of 2nd Avenue. While there detectives arrested a 43-year-old Oshkosh woman for cocaine trafficking. The man had received the gunshot wound while at the residence. Police say it appears to have been an isolated incident and there were no additional injuries.
Plan Safe Ride Home From St Pat’s Celebration
If you’re celebration of the “Wearin’ of the Green” includes drinking this weekend, make sure you have a plan for getting home without driving. Ripon Police Chief Bill Wallner says a lot of people enjoy St. Patrick’s Day and the festivities that go with it, but drinking and driving shouldn’t be part of that. “That’s all we ask is just be responsible have those designated drivers. Certainly go out and enjoy yourself, but plan ahead.” In addition to designated drivers others choices for getting a safe ride home includes taxis or checking with a tavern to see if they participate in a Safe Ride program. The Tavern League of Wisconsin has keeps a list of participating taverns at its website.
Flu Still A Concern
An official with the Fond du Lac County Health Department says its still not too late to get vaccinated against the flu. Joyce Mann says people are still contracting the flu this time of year. “I looked at the latest numbers and we’ve had at least 170 people in Fond du Lac County who tested positive. In talking with some of the local physicians one of them told me last week certainly seeing lots of influenza cases.” Mann says the flu hasn’t hit the county as bad as last year, but there are still moderate levels of it.
Markesan Resident Home Hosting Art Show Saturday
The Second Annual Artists’ Palette featuring the art work of Markesan High School Senior Art students is tomorrow afternoon at the Markesan Resident Home. Stacey Hein is the Art Instructor at Markesan Middle and High School. She says it was very easy working with the Markesan Resident Home on the event. She says they were particularly helpful in marketing the event. The show is from 2 to 4 pm Saturday. There will be a free gallery tour, food and beverages.
