An “abuse of official” report has been filed with Wisconsin’s high school sports regulatory body regarding and incident involving former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.
It happened following the Feb. 26 Pulaski-Notre Dame Academy Boys Basketball game in Pulaski. Pulaski defeated Notre Dame 67-66, ending the Tritons’ season. McCarthy’s stepson plays for Notre Dame, and the coach is a regular at games.
Video shows McCarthy walking behind the referees when there is an apparent exchange of words. One referee points a finger at McCarthy, who then walks away. There is no audio, and it is unknown what was said during the exchange.
The Pulaski Community School District released a statement saying a “parent of the visiting team overreacted in an inappropriate way by following officials and using language that is not in alignment with the WIAA or local sportsmanship expectations.” It’s been confirmed that McCarthy is the parent in question.
An “Abuse of Contest Official” report was filed with the WIAA. The Pulaski School District says the report was not filed by the district, but by game officials involved in the incident.
