ThedaCare Announces CCO Appointment

APPLETON, Wis. – ThedaCare is pleased to announce Scott J. Betzelos, MD, has been named the organization’s new Chief Clinical Officer and President of the Clinically Integrated Network.
In this important and newly created role, Dr. Betzelos will design and execute ThedaCare’s population health and physician integration strategy. He will have direct responsibility of the ThedaCare Accountable Care Organization, Clinically Integrated Network (CIN), ThedaCare physician group, graduate and undergraduate medical education, Medical Staff Services, and all physician leadership within ThedaCare in the pre-acute, acute and post-acute settings. He will also partner with the Chief Nurse Executive in the oversight and execution of quality and safety across the continuum of care.
Dr. Betzelos’ comprehensive clinical and administrative background brings a wealth of experience to this role. Most recently, he held multiple concurrent positions within Inova Health System in Virginia. His initial role was as Chief Medical Officer (CMO) of the Fairfax Medical Campus. He also began as the Chief Patient Safety Officer for the health system and held this concurrent role until 2017 when he was asked to become CEO of the Inova Medical Group. Since 2016, he also served as Associate System CMO for Care Coordination. Prior, he served in various roles with Presence Health, Diversified Emergency Services, Saints Mary & Elizabeth Medical Center and Diversified Medical Consultants.
He holds a Masters of Business Administration in Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix in Chicago, a Master of Science in Forensic Examination from Touro College and a Doctor of Medicine from the University of Health Sciences/The Chicago Medical School.
