Semi Driver Survives Thirty Foot Fall From Railroad Overpass

16 February 2019 News

A semi driver was seriously injured when his truck went off a railroad overpass on Fond du Lac County Highway F in the Town of Byron Friday night and crashed on the Canadian National Railroad tracks some 30 feet below. Paul Hebert was able to climb out of the semi with help from the Oakfield Fire Department and Fond du Lac Ambulance. Sheriff’s officials say he suffered serious injuries and was taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the crash. A second accident occurred at the scene when Marion Shafer stopped to speak with firefighters. He hadn’t shifted into park and the vehicle was in reverse. When he got out of it he was struck by the driver’s side door and partially run over. He was taken to St. Agnes with serious injuries.
