In a two-lap dash in overtime Sunday at Daytona International Speedway, Denny Hamlin held off teammate Kyle Busch to win the 61st running of the Great American Race, an event that featured massive fireworks with five late cautions that left 14 cars on the lead lap at the finish.

The victory was Hamlin’s 32nd in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series, and it broke a 47-race drought for the 38-year-old from Chesterfield, Va., who had stickers on his No. 11 Toyota Camry commemorating J.D. Gibbs and Glen Wood, patriarch of the Wood Brothers Racing team who passed away on Jan. 18.

Team LeBron is undefeated in All-Star competition, having picked up its second straight win, a 178-164 victory over Team Giannis, at the 68th NBA All-Star Game at the Spectrum Center on Sunday.

Team Giannis took early control with a 53-37 first quarter, featuring a combined 28 points on 12-for-13 shooting from Bucks teammates Giannis Antetokounmpo and Khris Middleton. Team Giannis led by as many as 20 points, but Team LeBron made it a game with an 18-4 run, fueled by Damian Lillard and Bradley Beal, in the third quarter.

The teams traded leads early in the fourth and it was a three-point game with 4 1/2 minutes to go, but Team LeBron put it away with a 10-2 run featuring five straight points – a step-back 3-pointer over Joel Embiid and an alley-oop dunk from former teammate Kyrie Irving – from LeBron James.

Kia All-Star MVP Kevin Durant led Team LeBron with 31 points on 10-for-15 shooting, scoring 11 (on a perfect 4-for-4 shooting) in the fourth quarter. Nine other members of Team LeBron scored in double-figures.

Antetokounmpo led all scorers with 38 points on 17-for-23 shooting, adding 11 rebounds and five assists

J.B. Holmes rallied from a four-shot deficit in the final round and won a marathon finish Sunday in the Genesis Open for his first victory in three years and a trip back to the Masters.

Holmes closed with a 1-under 70, and that was enough to overcome Justin Thomas, who three-putted three times on the back nine and shot a 75.

The tournament shifted on the 13th hole when Holmes made a 12-foot par putt. Thomas missed his 8-foot par putt, and then lipped out from just under 3 feet for double bogey to fall one shot behind.

He never caught up.

Tiger Woods shot 65 in the morning, though he was never in range. He shot 72 in the afternoon and tied for 15th.

Free-agent third baseman Mike Moustakas is headed back to the Milwaukee Brewers according to multiple sources. Reports say Moustakas’ deal is for one-year, $10 million with a mutual option on a second year.

The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal was first to report the re-signing.

Moustakas batted .251 with 28 home runs and 95 RBI in 152 games in 2018 with both the Kansas City Royal and the Brewers. Moustakas was acquired in late July and hit .256 with eight homers and 33 RBIs.

The Brewers start full squad workouts in Maryvale, AZ. for Spring Training on Tuesday, Feb. 19. The team’s first Spring Training game is Saturday, Feb. 23 at 2:05 pm CT against the Chicago Cubs. The first game will only be broadcast on the radio.

Natisha Hiedeman scored a career-high 34 points and Danielle King added 20, leading No. 8 Marquette to a 109-63 victory over Seton Hall on Sunday.

Marquette (22-4, 13-1 Big East) bounced back from Friday’s loss to St. John’s, which ended the Golden Eagles’ 12-game winning streak. In that game, Hiedeman, the Eagles’ leading scorer, finished with three points.

In the Big Ten tonight, Illinois plays at #19 Wisconsin.

In High School boys basketball tonight, Ripon plays at Waupun. You can hear the game on AM1600/93.1FM, WRPN with the tip-off at 7:15.
