Rumored Threat At Berlin High School Not Credible
The Berlin Area School District put out a message to parents Tuesday afternoon assuring them that students were safe. This followed some type of rumor about a threat at the high school. District officials did not elaborate on the rumor citing federal law ensuring student privacy. Berlin Police Chief Dennis Plantz also didn’t elaborate, but did say the threat was resolved and wasn’t credible.
Oshkosh Stabbing Suspect Arraigned
A 24-year-old Oshkosh man suspected of stabbing another man was arraigned in Winnebago County court this week. A judge entered a “not guilty” plea for Dustin Rosenkranz who stood mute. He is charged with attempted first degree intentional homicide. Rosenkranz got into an argument with the victim on December 1st and according to the criminal complaint slashed him in the neck. He claims the victim punched him first so he pushed back then punched the man before stabbing him. Rosenkranz is back in court on March 15th for a status conference.
Mayville Mother And Son Accused Of Burglary
A mother and son suspected of burglarizing their former home in Lomira made their initial appearances in Dodge County court this week. Thirty-three-year-old Nathan and 59-year-old Barbara Braunschweig of Mayville allegedly took farm equipment from the foreclosed property last March. According to the criminal complaint through a confidential informant, a deputy was able to track scrap metal sold at a local recycling company that allegedly listed Nathan on the receipt. The two will be back in court for preliminary hearings on March 7th. They were both released on $1,000 signature bonds.
Grothman On Shutdown Pay
Congressman Glenn Grothman was one of a few congressmen who voted against a Senate bill last week that would have paid all federal employees whether they are working or not during the government shutdown. He prefers a House resolution he’s co-sponsoring that would pay those workers who are required to work. “So if you know somebody in the Coast Guard, somebody working at the Oxford Federal Prison they are not getting paid or TSA agents at the airport that’s wrong. They should be paid immediately.” He says the Senate bill had flaws in it. He says the House resolution would pay those federal employees required to work and pay them in a timely manner.
Congressman Grothman Schedules Town Hall Meetings
Congressman Glenn Grothman will be hold town hall meetings at three locations in the 6th Congressional District this week. Friday he will be at the Kingston/Dalton Town Hall in Dalton from 1 to 2 pm and the Cambria Village Hall from 3 to 4 pm. On Sunday he will be at the Manitowoc Public Library from 3:30 to 4:30 pm.
Christian Home Move
Staff and patients will be moving into the new Christian Home and Rehabilitation Center in Waupun today. Shelly Haberman of SSM Health says the move into the new $22.4 million facility at 452 Fox Lake Road should be completed today. “You know you talk about all the preparations that we do to create the facility and to plan the best facility that really makes sense for the type of care we offer, but really almost at the same time you’re also coordinating the move.” She says it is hoped that the move will be seamless for their residents. The more than 104,000 square foot facility has features for skilled nursing, assisted living, and memory care services. The public got a look at the new facility during a grand opening celebration last Sunday.
Host Families Needed For FDL Dock Spiders Players
The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders are looking for host families that would be willing to host some of their players this season. General Manager Ryan Moede says college athletes come in from all over the country to play for the team in the Northwoods League. Families would be required to put players up for about 2 1/2 months. He says they are looking for four or five new families to host players. “We’re looking for some new people. People that are interested in being part of the program we have got all the information kind of sign up page on our website dockspiders.com. People can kind of get more information and kind of fill out if they are interested in being a part of it.” There are benefits for host families including season tickets, discounts at the team store and host family events.
