City Of Ripon Receives Large Donation
29 January 2019 News
The Ripon Common Council is considering what to do with a large donation from the Lloyd Mitchell estate. The Council was informed last night that the nearly $485,000 has to be used to construct a non-sectarian building or buy park property with the stipulation that it be named after Grace and Lloyd Mitchell. The city would have to provide perpetual maintenance to the building or park. Mayor Gary Will told the Council the city could apply for a revolving loan from the state for up to $250,000 to match the gift. The donation was referred to the Parks and Recreation Committee for discussion. The city has a year to decide what to do with it.
