A day after losing head coach Mike McCarthy, Green Bay Packers associate head coach Winston Moss is out, too.
Tuesday night, the Green Bay Packers announced they “parted ways” with Moss, who was also linebackers coach.
Interim head coach Joe Philbin, who was the team’s offensive coordinator until Sunday, wrote, “We thank Winston for his contributions to the Packers over the past 13 years… We hope for the best for Winston and his family moving forward.”
Earlier Tuesday, Moss wrote on Twitter, “Ponder this… what Championship teams have are great leadership! It’s not the offensive guru trend, it’s not the safe trend. Find somebody that is going to hold #12 and everybody in this building to a #LombardiStandard!” He ended the tweet with hashtag #losingsucks.
Moss was an original member of Mike McCarthy’s team. McCarthy named him an assistant head coach in 2007 after working with Moss for five season. This was Moss’ fourth season as associate head coach and his fifth consecutive season leading the linebackers.
The Packers return to the practice field today getting ready for Sunday’s home game against the Atlanta Falcons. Green Bay will be trying to snap a three-game losing streak.
Meanwhile on Tuesday, the Packers signed LB Kendall Donnerson to the active roster from the practice squad, signed S Tray Matthews and S Jason Thompson to the practice squad and placed S Ibraheim Campbell on injured reserve.
