Oshkosh Police Investigating Second Child’s Death
Oshkosh Police are investigating the death of a 3-year-old girl. They received a call about 7:30 Friday morning for a medical call in the 1600 block of Sanders Street. When officers arrived they found the girl who was already dead. No other details were released about the incident.
Eldorado Man Convicted Of Possessing Child Pornography
A 33-year-old Eldorado man has been sentenced to three years in prison and five years of extended supervision on a child pornography possession charge. Joseph Van Kooy entered a no contest plea in Fond du Lac County court in October to one count of possession of child pornography. Nine similar charges were read into the record and dismissed. Judge Richard Nuss sentenced Van Kooy last Thursday.
Meth Now Primarily Brought Into The US
Fond du Lac Police Chief Bill Lamb says law enforcement doesn’t see as many methamphetamine labs as they used to. He says part of the reason for that is because the drug cartels now supply most of the meth being sold in the United States, because they learned it is easy to make and sells well. He says the labs they do see these days can even be set up in a car. “There not a really sophisticated operation that is set up in somebody’s house and sometimes you will see those, but there are meth labs that literally will transport and set up in their cars.” Last Friday was Methamphetamine Awareness Day in the United States.
Research Before You Give
The Christmas season is one where we see a lot of giving to charities, but an officials with the state’s Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection says you have to be careful who you are donating to. Jerald Albracht says there are lookalike, soundalike and impostor charities out there. He says if you are solicited by phone, email or mail do your research before you give. “So we just want people to do what we ask them all year long when we are talking about charities and that is do your research before you make a payment.” He suggests not falling for the hard sell if it comes out of the blue because the donation you make tomorrow is just as good as the one you make today.
BD Man Robbed Restaurant Across The Street From His Residence
A career criminal has been sentenced to an additional nine years in prison for robbing a Beaver Dam pizza restaurant to feed his crack cocaine addiction. Thirty-five-year-old Kyle Rach of Beaver Dam is already serving time in prison. He will begin serving the nine years after his present sentence, which runs into 2021. Rach was sentenced in Dodge County court Thursday for the March robbery where he threatened an employees of Marco’s Pizza with the use of a gun. He got away with $111. Rach told investigators he was high on crack cocaine at the time of the robbery and looking for a way to pay for more. He lives across the street from the restaurant and said it didn’t matter whether the restaurant was busy or not when he robbed it. His criminal record spans more than 20 years and includes seven prior burglaries, which led to long stays in prison.
Alliant Energy Foundation Grant Awards
Eighteen area non-profit organizations and programs are receiving community grants totaling over $33,000 from the Alliant Energy Foundation. In Fond du Lac those non-profits include; The Children’s Museum, Marian University, the Boys & Girls Club, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Fond du Lac County, the Family Resources Center, Solution’s Center Shelter and Support Services, Habitat for Humanity, and the Fond du Lac Adult Literacy Services. The Ripon Public Library is receiving a $2,000 grant for its Community and College Reads program. Grants vary from $500 to $5,000.
