Body Found In Crawl Space Of Sheboygan Home
Working on a couple of tips Sheboygan Police found a body in a crawl space in a home in the 1300 block of Michigan Avenue Tuesday. They received a call Sunday afternoon saying the body of a person who overdosed may be in the home, but a search inside the home turned nothing up. A second tip Tuesday afternoon told them the body was hidden in the home. This time police discovered the body of a 30-year-old man. A 29-year-old woman was taken into custody on a probation hold. An autopsy was conducted Wednesday morning to see if the death was consistent with an overdose.
Deer Hunting Accident Victims
The state’s DNR reported a couple of injury accidents during the opening weekend of the gun deer season. One of those hunters was a 23-year-old man who was shot in the foot in Columbia County’s Marcellon Township. He was shot by another member of his hunting party who was shooting at a deer. The DNR also says a 21-year-old man was hit in the arm by bullet as he was working on a downed deer. He wasn’t wearing blaze orange and a 17-year-old hunter mistook him for a deer. Over the past ten years, the state has averaged three hunting incidents on opening weekend.
Cooking Reminders
An official with Ready Wisconsin says for your own safety this Thanksgiving try to limit the number of people traveling through a busy kitchen. Andrew Beckett says figure out a game plan for keeping family and friends busy in other parts of your home while you’re cooking. “It’s important to kind of set some ground rules if you have a lot of company over is try and keep people somewhere else. Have them watching football on the couch or give the kids a game to play so that there is not a bunch of people who don’t need to be in the kitchen wandering into the kitchen.” He also recommends if you are deep frying a turkey keep it far enough away from the house or other buildings so that if something goes wrong it won’t start a fire.
Waupun Fire Chief Grateful For Award
Waupun Fire Chief B.J. DeMaa says he can’t take all the credit for winning the Wisconsin State Fire Inspectors Associaton’s “Fire Educator of the Year” award last month during their annual conference in Green Bay. DeMaa says fire prevention education is a team effort and they have an amazing team. He says the award validates the work the group has been doing for many years. DeMaa says he knew something was up when his family showed up at the conference. “Were up at the fire inspectors conference and when they walked around the corner in the hotel that’s when I knew something was going on.” Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue Division Chief Troy Haase was also honored at that conference as the “Fire Inspector of the Year.”
Dodge County 911
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is reminding residents this holiday season that they can send text messages to 911 to the Sheriff’s Department. The service has been provided for the last three years since November 2015. While Text-to-911 is available, it is not intended to replace a voice call to 911. A voice call to 911 is still the quickest, most efficient way to reach emergency help. The service is intended for those who might be deaf, hard of hearing, speech impaired or in a dangerous situation where speaking could lead to their harm.
