Work Appreciated
Fond du Lac County Finance Committee Chairman Marty Ryan sprang a surprise on County Finance Director Karen Kuehl during Thursday night’s County Board meeting. The board approved the 2019 County Budget and tax levy. Kuehl was asked to go to the front of the legislative chambers to answer questions about the budget, which was really a pretext. Once she was there Ryan asked her how long she had been working for the county and on county budgets. Kuehl answered since 1990. Ryan told her that her work was appreciated and they wanted to show her their gratitude in a small way. County Clerk Lisa Freiberg then presented Kuehl with a floral arrangement.
Oshkosh West Veterans Day Ceremony
Oshkosh West High School will be honoring veterans during a Veterans Day ceremony, open to the public Sunday from 1 to 4 pm at Oshkosh West High School. The ceremony will feature the Oshkosh High/West Veterans’ Honor Hall, and a brief wreath-laying ceremony will take place at 2 pm. The ceremony will offer a time to pay tribute to those in the Honor Hall and other veterans in the community, reconnect with old acquaintances and friends, and socialize over a cup of coffee or snacks. The Oshkosh High/West Veterans’ Honor Hall was established in 2017 and continues to grow, currently listing over 2,680 heroes who graduated from or attended Oshkosh High or Oshkosh West High School. The Veterans Day celebration will also serve as the official ribbon cutting of the Oshkosh High/West Veterans’ Honor Hall kiosk. The kiosk allows visitors to search veterans in the Honor Hall and view photos, documents, and news articles that have been submitted or found in archives.
