Ripon Common Council Tables BID Operating Plan
28 November 2018 News
The Ripon Common Council Monday night tabled approval of the Business Improvement District’s Operating Plan for 2019. The BID Board of Directors reorganized in August and has held three meetings. The Board provided notice of those meetings to City officials and the media, but did not post it at City Hall where other notices are posted. City Attorney Ludwig Wurtz felt the board had skipped a necessary step and should hold a meeting where businesses owners in the district and the public could comment on the operating plan before the Common Council approves it. During the public comment section of the meeting a business owner complained that the BID had assessed her for $10,500 over the last 18 years and she has had nothing to show for it. She said trying to contact City and BID Board officials about her issues has also been very difficult. The Council tabled the BID Operating Plan approval until its December 11th meeting.
