Kirk Cousins bounced back from his worst game for Minnesota with 342 passing yards and three touchdowns without a turnover, and the Vikings overcame some early gaffes to outlast the depleted Green Bay Packers for a 24-17 victory on Sunday night.
Completing 29 of his 38 attempts, Cousins found Dalvin Cook, Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen for scores. Sheldon Richardson had two sacks to lead the defense’s game-long stifling of Aaron Rodgers, and the Vikings (6-4-1) pushed the Packers (4-6-1) further back in the NFC wild card race.
Rodgers threw a touchdown pass to Davante Adams and Aaron Jones scored on a short run for a 14-7 lead early in the second quarter, but the Packers fell to 0-6 on the road and 1-5-1 against the Vikings in their last seven meetings. Rodgers threw for 198 yards and Adams went over 1,000 receiving yards for the first time in his career.
The Packers were just 2-for-10 in third down conversions.
Green Bay returns to Lambeau Field on Sunday to host the Arizona Cardinals.
The Westchester Knicks (8-3), the official NBA G League affiliate of the New York Knicks, defeated the visiting Wisconsin Herd (1-8), 104-91, on the tail-end of a series back-to-back, Saturday night at the Westchester County Center. The Knicks were in front by as many as 22 points in the fourth quarter, but Wisconsin continued to battle, shrinking its lead to 11 by the 4:47 stamp but were unable to cut in any deeper and rested on the 13-point final. James Young led the Herd with 28 points on 50-percent shooting. Brandon McCoy had 19 points and 14 boards for his double-double. The Milwaukee Bucks have requested waivers on Jodie Meeks. Meeks was acquired from the Washington Wizards on Oct. 15 along with a future second-round draft pick and cash in exchange for a future second-round draft pick. The Bucks roster stands at 17 players. In the NBA tonight, the Bucks play at Charlotte.
