Advisory Referendums Pass
Voters in a couple of area counties want the State Legislature to close the Dark Store property assessment loophole for big box retailers. Green Lake and Winnebago county voters soundly passed advisory referendums Tuesday. In Winnebago County 73 percent of voters felt that way and 70 percent of Green Lake County voters expressed the same desire. Also yesterday Winnebago County voters passed a resolution asking the state legislature to create a nonpartisan procedure for preparation of a legislative and congressional redistricting plan.
Election Turnout Strong
Voter turnout was strong for yesterday’s mid-term elections. Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg says 45,361 people cast their ballots in the County. “So that’s 83 percent, but we saw all polling locations saw many, many new registered voters.” In Winnebago County more than 76,000 people voted and Green Lake County had a turnout of 55 percent of registered voters.
