Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell still has not named his starting pitcher to open the National League Division Series against the Colorado Rockies, but said the starter will come from the bullpen. He said, “We’re going to use guys that haven’t kind of been our starters this last couple weeks,” “So, we’re going to use a bunch of different guys and we’re still deciding on exactly the order of that scenario. hese are going to be two, three-inning appearances that we think we can get through this with.”
The Rockies are turning to Antonio Senzatela to start Game 1 at Miller Park on Thursday. The right-hander is 6-6 with a 4.38 ERA in 23 games, including 13 starts.
The bullpen is a strength for the Brewers, who will have had two days’ rest after beating the Chicago Cubs on Monday in a tiebreaking game for the NL Central.
Right-hander Jhoulys Chacin will start Game 2 on Friday. Chacin has been the team’s best starter after going 15-8 with a 3.50 ERA in 35 starts in his first season in Milwaukee.
The Brewers will have homefield advantage for as long as they are in the National League Playoffs, and they are counting on that Miller Park crowd starting Thursday afternoon. Firs pitch is at 4:07.
In the other NLDS game tonight, the Braves play the Dodgers in Los Angeles.
In the American League Wild Card game last night in New York, the Yankees beat the Oakland A’s, 7-2. The ALDS starts tomorrow.
Packers are gearing up for the Lions Sunday in Detroit and any anger and issues stemming from Aaron Rodgers critical comments about the Packers offense Sunday has been put to bed by constructive communication as the team turns the page to get ready for the Detroit Lions.
“We meet regularly,” coach Mike McCarthy said. “I think that’s the most important thing. I’ve addressed everything I think I needed to address.”
“Mike and I talk all the time,” quarterback Aaron Rodgers said. “We have a great relationship. There’s always communication between us, even if there is things that we need to talk about that are tough subject.
As far as practice participation went on Wednesday, corners Kevin King and Jaire Alexander participated. Those not practicing Wednesday included: Aaron Rodgers, Randall Cobb, and Geronomo Allison. WR Davante Adams was added to the injury report, limited by a calf injury.
