Kaukauna Man Charged In Oshkosh Man’s Death

24 October 2018 News

A 34-year-old Kaukauna man was charged Tuesday in Winnebago County Court with aggravated battery in the death of 47-year-old Steven Mallas of Oshkosh. According to the criminal complaint Christopher Barry punched Mallas in the face over $18 that was taken from a bar early the morning of October 7th. Mallas suffered a broken jaw. Dr. Douglas Kelley of the Milwaukee County Medical Examiner’s Office determined complications from the broken jaw led to Mallas’s death. Mallas died five days after he was assaulted on a sidewalk in the 400 block of Boyd Street.  During his initial hearing bond was set at $50,000 cash for Barry. He’s back in court for a preliminary hearing next Monday.
