18 October 2018 News
Fond du Lac County Executive Al Buechel delivered his 26th County Budget message to County supervisors Tuesday night. The 2019 County Budget will require a tax levy of over $44 million an increase of $711,000. He notes over the past four years the interest they have earned from investments in the state investment pool have grown and they will be able to use about $1 million in interest for the budget so County employees can receive a two percent raise next year. He also notes that the Harbor Haven Health and Rehabilitation Center this year and next year required no levy support so that saves them about $300,000 a year they can use elsewhere in the budget. Despite the higher tax levy the tax rate will be lower at $5.93 per thousand dollars of value on a property or 14 cents lower than for 2018, The County Board is expected to approve the budget at their November 8th meeting.
