Dodge Sheriff Warns About Fake Abduction Posts

Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt recently warned residents to take posts on social media sites about attempted abductions with a grain of salt. He says there have been a number of postings on Facebook alleging that individuals have been followed on freeways, in stores, at gas stations and other locations. Schmidt notes the authors of the posts imply they feel like they are the target of potential abductions. As a result, many people have been concerned about going out in public and fear for their safety. Schmidt says they’ve looked into several of these alleged incidents and so far have not been able to substantiate the ones reported on Facebook. He adds he’s also not aware of any that have been reported to the sheriff’s office. Schmidt cautions residents not to share the posts if they can’t verify the information.
