Staff at the Ripon City Hall and Police Department got a group of visitors from Germany this week. Those visitors are foreign exchange students that are currently staying with Ripon High School families. Mayor Gary Will and City Administrator Lori Rich answered their questions about City Government and the 15 or more students and their chaperones also stopped at the Police Station. Police Chief Bill Wallner says they got to compare notes about how different law enforcement is in the two countries. He says, “It was nice to compare you know a little bit about the differences between law enforcement in Europe where they are from in Germany and then the law enforcement in the United States and the differences in operations and the things to consider there.” For the students one of the highlights was a chance to meet the Department’s K9 team including German Shepard Rony.
