Curtain Opens On 24 Hour Theater In FDL

Fond du Lac, WI – The Young Professionals of Fond du Lac (YPF) and Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts (THELMA) will present a production of 24-Hour Theater on Saturday, October 20 at 7:00 p.m. in THELMA’s Great Hall.
24-Hour Theater is based on the concept of creating a play from scratch—from writing to rehearsing to performance—all within 24 hours.
Beginning at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 19 a group of six volunteer playwrights, six volunteer directors, and over 20 volunteer actors will gather to kick off the event. At the kickoff, the directors and actors will be divided into six casts, costumes for all the actors will be randomly selected, and a theme will be unveiled. From then, each writer will be tasked with generating a 10-minute play integrating each character, costume, and the central theme.
Once the plays are written, the actors and directors will memorize and rehearse the productions during the day Saturday, all leading up to the performance of all six shows consecutively at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday evening- only 24 hours later.
“This is a unique opportunity to experience the arts in action,” says Joe Venhuizen, Director of Membership and Programs at Envision Greater Fond du Lac. “YPF believes in the importance of these types of community experiences in the greater Fond du Lac area, and THELMA has been a great partner in bringing this event to life. I’m excited to see what comes out of the performances and I’m positive it will be entertaining.”
