Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt won the Republican
Primary for the seat and for all intents and purposes the office in
Tuesday’s election. He received 9,054 votes to Deputy Mike Norton’s 2,048
votes. He faces no opposition in the November General Election. Incumbent
Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt fought off a challenge from Sheriff’s
Lieutenant Jim Ketchum receiving 6,679 votes to 5,381 votes. In  the
Waushara County Sheriff’s race Deputy Walter Zuehlke prevailed over fellow
Deputy Lafe Hendrickson and Berlin Police Chief Dennis Plantz. Zuehlke received 1,804 votes,  Hendrickson 1149, and Plantz 1075.

Elsewhere in the state Leah Vukmir won the Republican Party primary for U.S. Senate and will face incumbent Tammy Baldwin in the November election. State Schools Superintendent Tony Evers got 42 percent of the vote in the Democratic primary for Governor and will face Governor Scott Walker in the General Election.
