Ripon Chamber Withdraws Invitation To Wopat

The Ripon Area Chamber of Commerce decided not to have TV star Tom Wopat appear at Septemberfest after the actor was convicted of inappropriately touching women. Wopat is a Lodi native and starred in the Dukes of Hazzard in the late 1970s and early 80s. Chamber Executive Director Jason Mansmith says the Chamber’s Board of Directors withdrew their invitation in light of that conviction. The Chamber had no contract and had not paid an appearance fee to Wopat. Wopat had been invited to tie in with the 20th anniversary of the Watson Street Car Show. Instead the Chamber has invited the Ring Brothers, custom car builders out of Spring Green, to come and talk about one of the cars they are working on. Septemberfest will be held on Watson Street on Saturday, September 15th from 9 am to 4 pm.
