2 August 2018 News
A Fond du Lac Police Department Officer and a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy were injured Wednesday evening while attempting to take a battery suspect into custody. Officers originally responded to a battery complaint at the Hazen Court Apartments, but the suspect, a 32-year-old Portage man had already left the scene. A Sheriff’s deputy spotted the suspect’s vehicle and pulled him over in the area of Military and Morris in Fond du Lac. While the deputy tried to detain the man he began punching the deputy in the face. When a police officer arrived the man continued to be combative and began hitting the officer in the face. A taser was used on the suspect. The police officer suffered a broken elbow and head and facial injuries. The officer and deputy were both treated at St. Agnes Hospital. The suspect was taken to the County Jail. He faces a number of charges and was also wanted on two outstanding arrest warrants.
