Agreement Could Keep Kimberly Clark Fox Crossing Facility Open

Governor Scott Walker is praising an agreement reached between Kimberly-Clark and the United Steelworkers Union that could keep the company’s Cold Springs Facility in Fox Crossing from closing. Kimberly-Clark had planned to close that facility and the Neenah Nonwovens Facility. The State Assembly in February passed a tax incentives package to try and prevent the closures. Governor Walker is now hoping that the State Senate will follow suit and approve the package. About 500 people work at the facility in Fox Crossing and about 115 at the Neenah facility.

Semi Crash Causes Power Outage In Berlin

More than 950 Alliant Energy customers in the Berlin area were affected by a power outage Monday afternoon. An Alliant spokesperson says a semi hit one of their electric poles at 2:12 pm . The contact with the pole caused an electric service outage to 958 customers in Berlin. Alliant crews responded and restored power to customers in 30 minutes. The impact caused damage to the overhead line, which then blew out two transformers and tripped a circuit breaker. The Berlin Substation located along Ripon Road was briefly deenergized while repairs were made to the line, the transformers and to reset the circuit breaker.

Foxconn Awards Construction Contracts To Wisconsin Companies

Foxconn Technology Group and its general contractor announced Tuesday a new set of more than three dozen companies who have been awarded contracts to help construct the Multipurpose Building at the Wisconn Valley Science and Technology Park campus in Mount Pleasant. All 37 of the companies have Wisconsin operations. Several of the companies are owned by veterans, women and minorities. Work on the building is expected to begin in August and is scheduled for completion by late 2018. The subcontractors working on this project range from caulking and painting to lighting and roofing.

Small Plane Crashes At EAA AirVenture

No one was injured when a small plane crashed on the ultralight strip at EAA AirVenture Tuesday morning. The crash was the result of a landing. Two people were on board the plane. EAA spokesman Dick Knapinski says no one was injured.

Markesan Hosting Green Lake County NNO Celebration

The Markesan Police Department will host Green Lake County’s National Night Out celebration on Tuesday, August 7th from 4 to 7 pm at Hein Park. Markesan Police Chief Will Pflum says there will be plenty to see and do. Children will team up with law enforcement officers for a bean bag tournament, police squad cars and ambulances will be on display, the fire department will assist children in putting out a small fire, the Sheriff’s Department drone will give a demonstration and there will even be a dunk tank with an opportunity to dunk the Mayor and other local officials. Pflum says they will also provide a meal of hamburgers, hot dogs, beans, chips, ice cream and more. He says the event is about bringing the community and law enforcement together. A DJ will play music and there will even be a bouncey house for the kids.
