Waldschmidt Runs For FDL County Sheriff

19 July 2018 News

Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt says he has been preparing to run for Sheriff for some time. Waldschmidt is one of two Republican candidates running for the seat incumbent Sheriff Mick Fink will be retiring from next January. The other candidate is Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Norton. Waldschmidt says when he was promoted to sergeant by then Sheriff Gary Pucker, Pucker talked to him about his potential. Pucker said, “I think I see in you the potential to go as far as you want some day in the office and up to and including Sheriff if you continue to work hard, continue to train and educate yourself and continue to do what you are doing and stay on track.” Waldschmidt feels no major restructuring is needed in the Sheriff’s Department, but there is room for some efficiencies including leadership development. The Primary Election is August, 14th.
