Ripon Main Street Serves The City Well
23 July 2018 News
Ripon’s Downtown Manager Craig Tebon says the state’s Main Street program has served the City well. Ripon was one of the five original communities named to the Main Street program in 1988. It doesn’t provide funding, but does provide technical expertise. Tebon says many downtown districts go through a period where they need to be built back up again. He says, “The decay that a lot of our downtowns have, the central business districts, was years in the making. So it takes years to reverse that process.” Tebon says they’ve had to go through another period of rebuilding the downtown after an unsuccessful development and the Watson Street fire. He says the Main Street program has been a very valuable resource for them.
