Norton Runs For FDL County Sheriff
3 July 2018 News
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Deputy Mike Norton wants to be the County’s next Sheriff. Incumbent Mick Fink decided not to run for reelection. Norton has been with the Department over 23 years. The first four were in the jail and the last 19 on patrol. He feels he knows what training works for deputies and what doesn’t because he’s had more time in “The Foxhole.” Norton says one of the biggest problems facing the County is the Opioid Crisis and the crimes that stem from heroin use. He says, “The problem with heroin is not just the addiction problem it is all the crimes that stem from heroin use. It is the burglaries, it is the thefts, the assaults. People they can’t work because they are so addicted. Norton faces Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt in the August 14th primary election. Since both are running as Republicans and there are no Democrats in the race, the winner of the primary will likely face no opposition in the General Election this fall.
