Drone A Good Investment For Green Lake County Sheriffs Department

A lot of people had a hand in finding two lost kayakers in the Grand River Wildlife area of Green Lake County last Saturday afternoon. But it was the Sheriff’s drone that was used to spot the 55-year-old Markesan and 26-year-old Fox Lake men. Then an ultra terrain vehicle was used to remove them from the marsh. Chief Deputy Mark Putzke says the drone has turned out to be a good investment for the County. He says, “We’ve got a night waiver we can fly this thing at night. We have got an infrared sensor on it that can seek out hot spots and fires or as we did about a month ago seek out hot spots at night when we are attempting to locate a felon. This all said and done this drone has served us well already.” Putzke says they can only use the drone for search and rescues, attempts to locate, and certain fires.
