Motorist Pulls Gun On Railroad Employee

A disgruntled motorist pulled a gun on a railroad employee who was directing traffic Thursday afternoon. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s officials say it happened on the railroad tracks on Kinker Road in the Town of Friendship. The driver had pulled a handgun out of his truck and pointed it at the railroad employee. No shots were fired and no one was injured. The Fond du Lac man is facing possible disorderly conduct and reckless use of a firearm charges.

Waupun School District Receives Safety Grant

State Attorney General Brad Schimel was in Waupun Friday to award the school district a safety grant. The district was awarded one of the Department of Justice’s School Safety Grants. The nearly $100,000 grant will be used on building safety improvements and to train faculty and staff. The grant was presented to District Superintendent Tonya Olson and School Board President Bill Bruins. Also present for the grant presentation were Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt, Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Captain Ryan Waldschmidt, Waupun Police Chief Scott Louden and Waupun Deputy Police Chief Jeremy Rasch.

Kids From Wisconsin In Ripon Tonight

The Kids from Wisconsin will be performing at the Ripon High School Auditorium tonight. The show starts at 7 p.m. It’s the 50th year for the Kids from Wisconsin. Their performers range in age from 15 to 20 years of age. Two of the Kids are from the area. Holly Meyer is a soprano who is from Mayville and Alex Turick who plays guitar is from Plymouth. This year’s show theme, “Shine the Light”, will feature music performed since the inception of the Kids from Wisconsin. Some of the Kids all-time audience favorites will be featured along with five decades of Broadway. The Kids from Wisconsin appearance in Ripon is sponsored by the Ripon Chamber of Commerce, Alliance Laundry Systems, and Maplecrest Assisted Living. Tickets are $16 for adults and $11 for those under 18 and over 60.

FDL Firm Commended For Design Work On Pioneer Road Project

The Fond du Lac County Board this week approved a resolution commending Gremmer & Associates for winning the 2018 Excellence in Design Award in the Best Local Program Design category. It was for the firm’s work on the County Highway VV or Pioneer Road reconstruction project, which included work near the main entrance to Mercury Marine. A Gremmer official told County supervisors the company has been in Fond du Lac for over 20 years and they are pleased to be providing excellent design and services for Fond du Lac County.

FDL County Offices Will Be Closed On The Fourth

All county offices in the Fond du Lac City-County Government Center, the Sheriff’s Office lobby window, Department of Social Services, including the offices in the Portland Street Annex, Veterans Service Office and the Highway Department will be closed all day on Wednesday, July 4th. The Moraine Lakes Consortium call center will also be closed that day.
