The Ripon Common Council will continue discussing the possibility of having at-large representation on the Council. The Council discussed the proposal this week. Mayor Gary Will says they are still gathering information on the issue and will continue talking about it at future Council meetings. Will believes at-large representation would be good for the City. Eight alderman represent the nearly 7,800 City residents, which breaks down to two aldermen for each of the City’s four districts. Will feels more people would run for the Common Council, but candidates are
limited to running for seats in the district they live-in.

With temperatures expected to top the lower 90’s this weekend the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Department is reminding people to look before they lock their vehicles. They want to make sure you don’t inadvertently lock a child in a vehicle. Children are more vulnerable to heat stroke. Sheriff’s officials recommend making it a habit to look through a vehicle before you lock it and keeping your vehicle locked and keys out of the reach of children. Nearly 3 in 10 heatstroke deaths happen when an unattended child gains access to a vehicle. They also urge taking action if you notice a child alone in a car. An outside temperature in the mid-60s can cause a vehicle’s inside temperature to rise above 110 degrees Fahrenheit. The inside temperature of your car can rise almost 20 degrees Fahrenheit within the first 10 minutes.
