One person is injured following a three vehicle accident in Winnebago County. The crash happened Wednesday afternoon around 1:15pm on Interstate 41 southbound, north of Breezewood Lane, in the City of Neenah. Investigation shows a car had stopped in the right lane of Interstate 41 due to a family of ducks crossing the Interstate. A truck also stopped in the right shoulder of the Interstate next to the car. A southbound dump truck and trailer swerved onto the shoulder to avoid crashing into the car, and subsequently crashed into the rear of the truck. The semi-truck then side-swiped the car that was stopped in the traffic lane. The operator of the truck, 54-year-old Carl Strege of Oshkosh, was transported to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah with serious but not life threatening injuries. The driver of the car, 49-year-old Christopher Fisher of Neenah, and the Semi driver, 65-year-old Frederick Ringel of Green Bay, were not injured in the crash.

State justice officials say a police officer in the Fox Valley has fatally shot a suspect. The Department of Justice says Fox Crossing police responded to a report of a man threatening people at Fritze Park Wednesday afternoon. Police say numerous people called about a man who they said was acting erratically and was armed with a knife. Authorities say the suspect was shot after police confronted him on the park’s Trestle Trail and died at the scene. The officer who shot the man is on administrative leave, per the department’s policies. The DOJ’s Division of Criminal Investigation is handling the case. The Trestle Trail is the place where three people were shot and killed three years ago by a shooter who took his own life.
