A state appeals court rules in the city of Oshkosh’s favor in an on-going battle with the organizer of a pub crawl. Joseph Kubiak declined to pay for an event permit for a pub crawl in 2014 after several years of doing so. The city sued, saying Kubiak didn’t comply with the ordinance requiring a permit. A circuit judge dismissed the suit, ruling that the meaning of “organizer” was unconstitutionally vague. However, an appeals court reversed the decision and ruled in the city’s favor Wednesday. The appeals court said that even though the term “organizer” isn’t perfectly clear, it doesn’t make room for guesswork in its enforcement. The appeals court sent the case back to Winnebago County Judge Thomas Gritton. No hearings have been scheduled.

Nobody is seriously injured and a Milwaukee man is in custody following a short high speed chase in Fond du Lac. It all happened in a matter of a few minutes around 4pm Wednesday. A Fond du Lac police officer was chasing a suspect in a quiet residential neighborhood when the suspect lost control of the vehicle, crashing into two parked vehicles and the front porch of a house at 275 8th Street…just west of Star Street. Amber Rumbuc lives across the street with her two children. She says she ran outside when she heard the crash and saw the suspect jump out of the car and jumped a backyard fence before police caught him. The chase started when police attempted a traffic stop on a 23 year old Milwaukee man for reckless driving near 4th and Main Streets.

Police in the Fox Valley investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy say an autopsy has found no signs of trauma or other unusual circumstances. The autopsy was performed Tuesday at UW Hospital in Madison. Neenah police say the investigation will remain active pending toxicology results, which are expected in four to six weeks. Authorities say the 2-year-old boy was found unresponsive Monday afternoon in Neenah. He was pronounced dead at a hospital. Police say the child and his parents live in Neenah, and the boy was being cared for in the home of a family member on the day he died. The names of the child and his parents have not been released.

Updated data from the state Department of Natural Resources shows hunters killed about 4,280 more deer during this past nine-day gun season than they did in 2015. Preliminary estimates after the season ended in November put the kill total at 196,785, down from 198,057 in 2015. Updated figures the DNR released Feb. 7 show hunters took 202,338 deer during the season. DNR officials say when the season closed that they still hoped the kill total might match 2015 as hunters who missed the deadline for registering their animals reported in. The number of gun deer licenses sold in 2016 didn’t change from data the agency released immediately after the nine-day season. Hunters purchased 598,867 licenses, down from 612,377 in 2015.

Prosecutors have filed charges against a 14-year-old boy accused of fatally shooting two teenage brothers during a failed attempt to rob them of money and marijuana at a house in a Milwaukee suburb. Charging documents filed Wednesday say the boy told investigators he didn’t plan on hurting anyone but became scared when he got into a struggle with one of the victims during the attempted robbery. Killed in the shootings Sunday in West Ellis were 17-year-old Trajan Edwards and 19-year-old Croshian “CJ” Edwards. Milwaukee County prosecutors charged the 14-year-old as an adult with two counts of first-degree reckless homicide and attempted armed robbery. A 13-year-old boy who authorities say was his accomplice is expected to be charged as a juvenile.

The FBI says agents and Cleveland police officers have arrested three members of the Ohio-based Heartless Felons street gang in connection with the theft of $500,000 in phones and electronic devices from nine states. An FBI spokeswoman in Cleveland says the gang members were arrested early Wednesday and that four incarcerated gang members involved in the thefts have been transferred to federal custody. Another suspect is being sought. The FBI says seven men and one woman broke into retail stores and mall kiosks 18 times between April and July 2016, would bring the devices back to Cleveland and then sell them to gas stations and phone stores. An FBI affidavit says the thefts occurred in Pennsylvania, Indiana, South Carolina, Illinois, Michigan, New Jersey, Wisconsin, New York and Maryland.
