One person is killed in a head on collision on Highway 151 north of Fond du Lac. The crash happened shortly afer noon Sunday on 151 at Pukwana Beach Rd. in the Town of Calumet. A preliminary investigation shows a northbound vehicle driven by a 73 yr. old Malone man crossed the center line and was struck head-on by a southbound vehicle on USH 151 which was driven by a 65 yr. old Malone woman. The 73 yr. old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. The woman was transported to St. Agnes Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The accident remains under investigation by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Wisconsin State Patrol, Town of Calumet Fire Department and First Responders and the Mt. Calvary Ambulance.

Donald Trump is looming large in the fight for an open congressional seat in northeastern Wisconsin. Republican Mike Gallagher, a former Marine, and Democrat Tom Nelson, the Outagamie County executive, are vying to replace The 8th Congressional District includes Appleton, Green Bay and Door County. It’s swung back and forth between Republicans and Democrats over the last 20 years. The National Republican Congressional Committee has poured nearly $1 million dollars into the race, signaling the GOP has high hopes for hanging onto the district. Nelson has countered by accusing Gallagher of being closely aligned with Trump. Nelson’s campaign aired a television ad in Green Bay last week saying Trump is dangerous and that Gallagher supports the Republican presidential nominee.

Eau Claire’s planning commission has approved a site plan for a proposed cancer center despite concerns that it won’t address some of the region’s medical needs. The Marshfield Clinic Health System’s former partner is concerned that the new center and a proposed adjoining hospital will not address significant treatment needs for mental health and alcohol and drug abuse. Opponents of the projects are largely members of the Hospital Sisters Health System, which oversees Sacred Heart and St. Joseph’s hospitals, where Marshfield has leased space since the 1990s. Members of the Eau Claire Plan Commission say they approved the site plan because it meets regulations. The cancer center is scheduled to open next year and the hospital in 2018.

Police in Milwaukee say three women are dead following a crash early Sunday that involved an Uber car. Police say the incident happened around 2:50 a.m. Sunday when a vehicle ran a red light and struck the Uber car. The 41-year-old Uber driver, who was not immediately identified, was taken to a hospital with what police believe are non-life threatening injuries. Two of his passengers died at the scene and a third one died at a local hospital. Police did not immediately release the names the three women. The two occupants of the vehicle that ran the red light fled the scene on foot. Police say the crash remains under investigation.

A coalition in Dunn County is working to improve the water quality in a watershed encompassing 1,900 square miles in Wisconsin. The Red Cedar Water Quality Partnership incudes local residents, conservation groups, farmers and members of University of Wisconsin-Extension and the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Group coordinator Dan Zerr says the Red Cedar Watershed has some of the worst water quality in Wisconsin. A report by the group says problems with fertilizer runoff have caused a large amount of phosphorus and nitrogen to run through local lakes and rivers, creating a dramatic increase in algae bloom. Zerr says UW-Extension created a farmer-led council that engages in conservation efforts to slow the amount of phosphorus running through the watershed into Tainter Lake and Lake Menomin.

A 17-year-old boy accused of shooting at a group of teens on a Kenosha porch has been charged. The Racine boy has been charged with first-degree recklessly endangering safety, use of a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by an adjudicated delinquent. He is in custody on a $20,000 bond. Court records show a teenager told police she was sitting on the front porch on Oct. 10, when a car pulled up in front of the house. She told police the driver then said he was a member of the Latin Kings, and his passenger got out of the vehicle, pulled out a gun and fired a shot. The criminal complaint shows a bullet was found inside the home’s front door.
