Oshkosh police have arrested a man in connection with a suspicious death. Police say they were notified of a body being inside an Oshkosh residence and authorities obtained a search warrant shortly before 5 a.m. Wednesday. Police discovered the body of an adult woman. A 38-year-old Oshkosh man was arrested at the scene for hiding a corpse and bail jumping. He was taken to jail. The cause of death remains under investigation.

Fond du lac police have arrested two suspects in connection with two armed robberies at Fond du Lac convenience stores over the holiday weekend. A 26 year old Oshkosh man and a 23 year old Fond du Lac woman are being held in the Fond du Lac County Jail in connection with a robbery at gunpoint at the Phillips convenience store on North Peters Avenue Monday and the Marathon gas station on South Main Street Saturday. Investigators believe the male suspect is responsible for both robberies. No one was injured in either incident.

The new owner of the downtown Fond du Lac Retlaw Hotel says construction on a multi-million dollar renovation of the building is expected to start this month. Dennis Doucette says the final hurdle was cleared recently when the project was able to receive historic tax credits. C.D. Smith will be the generator contractor. Doucette says work will begin this summer on the hotel infrastructure, including plumbing, HVAC and electrical. Doucette says the plans calls for a grand opening celebration next spring. Doucette says the $24 million project will return the hotel to its original grandeur.

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos is challenging special interest groups and businesses to solve Wisconsin’s road funding shortfall by Monday. Assembly Republicans last week proposed a fee on heavy trucks. Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce complained the fee would drive up business costs and a group of Senate Republicans refused to support the proposal. Vos sent a letter to WMC, the Wisconsin Motor Carriers Association and other groups and businesses Monday asking them to solve the shortfall by Monday. WMC lobbyist Scott Manley says the organization was glad the truck fee is dead and would accept Vos’ invitation but didn’t elaborate on ideas. WMCA President Neal Kedzie says Vos knows the association supports raising the gas tax and devoting 100 percent of sales taxes on automotive parts and rental cars to roads.

State attorneys have asked for a full federal appellate court to review a ruling overturning the conviction of a Wisconsin inmate featured in the “Making a Murderer” documentary. Brendan Dassey was sentenced to life in 2007 after he told detectives he helped his uncle, Steven Avery, rape and kill Teresa Halbach. A federal judge overturned Dassey’s conviction in 2016, ruling investigators took advantage of his young age and cognitive disabilities to coerce the confession. A three-judge panel from the 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals agreed in June. State attorneys filed a motion with the 7th Circuit on Wednesday asking all 12 of the court’s judges to review the case. The court rarely grants such reviews but the state argued the panel’s decision upends long-accepted police interrogation techniques.

Assembly Speaker Robin Vos says a Taiwanese technology company wants to build a plant in Wisconsin that would create thousands of jobs. Vos said in a letter to special interest groups and businesses Wednesday that Foxconn has indicated its desire to locate in southeastern Wisconsin with up to 10,000 jobs but work on improving Interstate 94 from Racine to Kenosha counties remains delayed. He didn’t elaborate. The letter marks the first time high-level state officials have publicly acknowledged Foxconn might locate a plant in the state. Foxconn assembles smartphones and other devices for Apple, Sony, Blackberry and other brands.
