A Mayville man facing child pornography charges after his online activities grabbed the attention of police has made his initial Dodge County Circuit Court appearance. Cash bond was set at $5,000 for 42 year old William Waldoch. He’s charged with 6 counts of possession of child pornography. According to a criminal complaint, Waldoch drew the attention of authorities because of his online activities, and a search was conducted of his electronic devices. Fifteen images were located. Waldoch allegedly admitted to using Flickr and Facebook to look at child porn. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for October 27th.

A car driver is killed following a one-vehicle rollover accident in Dodge County. The crash happened Tuesday night on Pond Road near Jefferson Road in the Town of Rubicon. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Department says a car was traveling eastbound, when the vehicle left the roadway, rolled and vaulted, and came to rest in a farm field. The adult male driver was the only occupant of the car and was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation.

The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public for help in locating a hit and run driver. Sheriff Dale Schmidt says a Fond du lac man received non life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a car while riding his bicycle along Highway 175 near Theresa Friday night. Schmidt says the vehicle should be missing the passenger side mirror and may have other damage consistent with hitting a person on a bicycle. Anyone with information is asked to call the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office.

The attorney for one of two Wisconsin girls accused of trying to kill a classmate to please a fictional horror character called Slender Man is challenging prosecutors’ use of his client’s confession. In a motion filed in Waukesha County Circuit Court, the attorney for Morgan Geyser argues she was too young and had not been treated for schizophrenia when she talked to investigators on camera about the stabbing of classmate Payton Leutner in 2014. Payton, Morgan and Anissa Weier were all 12 at the time. Morgan and Anissa have both pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease to attempted homicide charges in adult court. Payton was stabbed 19 times in a Waukesha park, but crawled out of some woods where she was found by a bicyclist.

A committee tasked with recommending changes to Wisconsin’s chronic wasting disease plan is set to hold its first meeting. The Chronic Wasting Disease Response Plan Review Committee will convene in Madison on Oct. 27. The meeting will be open to the public. The committee will hold two more meetings this fall before developing recommendations on how to deal with the disease over the next five years. The Department of Natural Resources has been operating under a 15-year plan that expires in 2025. It calls for reducing local deer herds in isolated areas of infection but centers mostly on monitoring the disease’s spread. The agency’s board in December 2015 ordered a review of the plan amid concerns that the disease has been spreading unchecked.

Harley-Davidson Inc. says it expects to lay off about 225 salaried employees by the end of the year to cut costs amid a sluggish U.S. motorcycle market. The cuts amount to about 5 percent of the company’s workforce. bout 70 contractors also will be affected. The company says it will incur up to $25 million in employee separation and reorganization costs as it cuts production and reduces workers. Harley-Davison has 1,024 salaried employees at its Milwaukee headquarters and 3,246 salaried employees worldwide. The company has not disclosed where the job cuts will take place. The company on Tuesday reported an 18.7 percent decline in third-quarter profit on lower sales and said it would cut costs.
