Police now say a 911 call reporting an attempted rape and kidnapping in Waushara County began as two people meeting in a hotel as the result of a website service. Sheriff Jeffrey Nett says the female victim called 911 just before 2 a.m. Sunday to report the crime. Information led deputies to a cabin in the Town of Marion on County Road N where the suspect was staying. Deputies went to the cabin and attempted to arrest the male suspect. Nett says a struggle ensued, the suspect was tased, but proceeded to go back into the cabin. The area was secured and multiple other police agencies along with the Winnebago County SWAT team were called to the scene. Nett says after several hours of attempted discussion, pepper spray was ultimately used on the suspect to gain entry to the cabin. The man was taken into custody around 10 a.m. The suspect is in the Waushara County Jail on felony charges. Nett says the case is still under investigation and additional charges will be requested from the District Attorney. The female victim was not injured.

The victim of a one vehicle fatal traffic crash in Dodge County is identified. The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office says 19 year old Brady Wagner of Hartford was killed in the crash Friday on County Highway A near County Trunk W in the town of Oak Grove. The Sheriff’s Office says Wagner was southbound when he failed to negotiate a curve, drove off the shoulder and struck an embankment. The vehicle vaulted and struck two trees. Wagner was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash remains under investigation.

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin officials say they won’t reopen its clinic in Appleton, one of three in the state, because they can’t meet sufficient security standards. The clinic suspended operations last year. Planned Parenthood officials said Monday that they reviewed security in the wake of an attack on a Colorado Springs clinic and decided they could not meet security standards. They say the closure is a loss for women in the northern and central parts of the state. Planned Parenthood will still offer its services at clinics in Madison and Milwaukee.

Wisconsin’s attorney general says a fatal police shooting in Milwaukee that sparked two nights of violence was recorded by not one but two body cameras. The state is investigating the Aug. 13 shooting of 23-year-old Sylville Smith. Authorities have said he was fleeing police and that footage from the officer’s body camera clearly shows Smith holding a handgun and turning toward an officer when he was shot. Attorney General Brad Schimel says authorities are reviewing that as well as a second video recorded by another officer’s body camera. He says the vantage points are similar. Schimel says the videos won’t be released until after the county prosecutor decides whether to charge the officer.

The body of a Kewaskum man has been recovered from a lake in Adams County. The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources used remote sonar and camera equipment to locate the body of 25-year-old Paul Anderson Sunday afternoon. Witnesses told authorities Anderson disappeared after jumping off a dock into Lake Camelot late Friday night and trying to swim to a boat. They say he never surfaced.

Authorities say that a man killed by New London police officers drew a realistic-looking toy gun to goad police into shooting him. Johnny Koremenos, spokesman for the state Department of Justice, says the gun that 31-year-old Kole Knight possessed when he was shot Friday morning was a “plastic toy look-alike.” Knight’s fiancée of three years, CiCi Johnson, said Knight was suicidal and knew that if he showed a weapon, or what looked like a weapon, to officers, they would shoot him. She says she doesn’t blame police for what they did. She says the toy gun belonged to her 14-year-old son. Johnson says Knight was diagnosed with bipolar disorder, depression and post-traumatic stress disorder. She says he had attempted suicide multiple times.

One of two girls accused of trying to kill a 12-year-old classmate to please horror character Slender Man two years ago is pleading not guilty by reason of mental defect or disease. Morgan Geyser, 14, entered her plea Friday in Waukesha County. Judge Michael Bohren ordered doctors to examine her. The other girl in the case pleaded not guilty last year. Both girls have been charged with attempted homicide as adults. A state appeals court in July ruled they should remain in adult court. Geyser’s attorney, Tony Cotton, says he dropped efforts to move the case to juvenile court.
