The Winneconne Masonic Lodge #186 is sponsoring a Food and Fund Drive during the week of
September 14 – 21 to assist the Winneconne Area Assistance Center (WAAC) Food Pantry. More than 40 Winneconne retailers and employers have agreed to either be a drop off site or conduct employee food drives. The WAAC Food Pantry needs non-perishable food items that are not past there freshness date as well as hygiene and cleaning supplies. From September 13-15th, people from near and far will gather in beautiful, historic Green Lake WI, where storytellers will project a rare snapshot of Mother Earth and humanity onto downtown movie screens (Thrasher Opera House, American Legion, Town Square, and Caestecker Library). Last year our inaugural festival attracted over 700 people. This year we hope to see more familiar faces along with new faces coming to Green Lake, which we would love to see emerging as a “storytelling center”.

The Princeton Flea Market, Central Wisconsin’s Largest Morning Outdoor Weekly Flea Market, will be held at 6:00 am every Saturday from April 20th through October 5th. The Flea Market is located at Princeton City Park at Highway 23/73.

There will be food and refreshments available. Parking and admission are free.

Head on over to downtown Green Lake for the 2019 Saturday Arts & Crafts Market. Enjoy arts and crafts created by your own local vendors at this event, happening on Saturdays from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm in downtown Green Lake this summer. The Market is held in downtown Green Lake at 492 Hill Street at the Corner Store Artist Co-op.

Black Hawk Folk Society proudly announces its fall-into-winter Second Saturday concert series.

The line-up kicks off with Michigan-based Mustard’s Retreat on Saturday, September 14. This trio has been making music magic for forty plus years (either as the current trio or as a duo). Their songs, stories, and stage presence resonate with audiences everywhere. 

Joyful, uplifting, intelligent, thought-provoking, insightful, original and timeless, Mustards Retreat is Libby Glover, Michael Hough and David Tamulevich. The trio met in 1975, performing together off and on throughout the late ’70s until a permanent move left Hough and Tamulevich on their own. Success and praise continued to follow the duo for the next 40 years, during which time they released a series of acclaimed recordings, traveled more than a million miles and performed more than 6,000 shows. Libby moved back to Michigan in 2014, and found the old chemistry was still there, deepened by the years of performing, stagecraft, songs, and the abiding friendship they all shared. There will be a potluck before the concert at 6:00 PM.

October 12 brings The Society of Broken Souls to the Mountain View Community Center’s stage. This singer-songwriter duo—Dennis James and Lauryn Shapter—are known for consistent performances the critics have labeled “relaxed and deft, restrained and modest, but in the end always quietly epic.”

Small Potatoes, a Black Hawk favorite, will be back on Saturday, November 9. This Chicagobased duo will have you tapping your toes, nodding with the tunes, and heading home with a smile on your face, all thanks to superb musicianship and award-winning songwriting, paired always to their commitment to the folk heritage.

December 14 brings Bob Bovee (another Black Hawk favorite) and Pop Wagner. Both have loyal followings whether they perform solo or together. Original and traditional country western blues are their forte. They are one part cowboys and one part musicians. Don’t be surprised if they lasso your hearts and steal them for the night.

These four Second Saturday concerts will be held at Mountain View Community Center, at N3137 21st Lane, near the intersection of 21st Lane and Highway 152, near Mt. Morris and Wautoma. General admission tickets will be sold at the door from 6:30 on, with the concert beginning at 7:00. (Adults: $10; 12 and under: free). Concert goers are invited to begin the evening by joining the performer and other music lovers with a potluck supper at 6. Mountain View is handicap friendly and offers plenty of free, on-site parking.

Black Hawk Folk Society is a 501(c)3 non-profit and is completely volunteer-driven. The organization’s mission is to bring quality live music to central Wisconsin.
