    This month’s Dungeons and Dragon gaming session will meet a week earlier than normal, on May 5 at 1:00 P.M., to avoid scheduling conflicts with Mother’s Day. We hope to see you there! This Role-Playing Gaming Group typically meets on the second Sunday of each month at 1:00 P.M.

    Town Square Photography Club

    The Town Square Photography Club will be held on May 6th from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. All photographers welcome! Regardless of skill levels, interests, or the type of camera you use. There will be a demonstration of “Hollywood” style lighting with live model; plus discussion and photos for sharing.

    Pain Management Series: The Hips 

     Dr. Kaitlyn Smith, PT, DPT, LAT, will present on how to keep your hips young and healthy, on Wednesday, May 8 at 6:00 P.M. at Ripon Public Library. Dr. Smith will talk about symptoms that can be self-managed along with signs that would warrant examination by a health care provider. This informational session will also cover the pros and cons of a total hip replacement. Don’t miss the final event of our Pain Management Health Series, Wednesdays this Spring at 6:00 P.M.

    Lit & Fit: A Walking Book Club 

    Ripon Public Library is pleased to announce its new walking book club, Lit & Fit. Start your day energized! Talk about what you’ve read lately and get new book suggestions during a morning walk with other readers. Adult/Teen Services Librarian, Mandy Sprague will be on hand share the latest updates about new books and offer reader’s advisory to get you hooked on your next read! Two sessions will be offered to suit participants needs: The Early Birds group will meet weekly on Thursdays at 6:30 A.M. starting on May 9 and the Mid-Morningers group will meet monthly on the fourth Thursday at 9 A.M. starting on May 23. Both Lit & Fit groups will meet in the library parking lot. Arrive a few minutes early to stretch and place a drink order at Mugs Coffeehouse for those wishing to purchase caffeinated beverages. Coffee orders will be picked up en route to the library at the end of our walk.

    The Economic Importance of Lakes to Communities

    At this event, open to the public, you can “learn about the value of lakes and tourism in our own central sands area, and the factors that negate the contribution of lakes to a robust economy.” It will be held at the Marquette County UW-Extension Agriculture, located at 480 Underwood Ave, Montello, Wisconsin 53949.

    Black Hawk Folk Society Presents: Rupert Wates

    Black Hawk Folk Society presents Rupert Wates Saturday, May 11 at 7 p.m.  Wates was born in London, moved to the United States via Paris in 2006, with New York City and Colorado now his current home bases. He has been a fulltime song writer and performer for nearly 30 years, with concerts large and small throughout the US, Canada, and Europe. Wates’ music is an eclectic mix of acoustic, melodic art/folk, flavored with a bit of jazz, vaudeville, and cabaret. He lays claim to 40 plus songwriting and performing awards, has released 9 solo cd’s, and his songs have been covered by many other artists. Visit rupertwatesmusic.com for more information or to sample his sound.

    The family friendly concert will be preceded with a 6 p.m. potluck supper open to all. General admission tickets will be sold at the door from 6:45 on. (Adults: $10; 12 & under: free.) Parking is available on-site and free; the facility is handicap friendly. Mountain View Community Center is located at N3137 21st Lane, at the intersection of 21st Lane and Highway 152, near Mt. Morris and Wautoma. Black Hawk Folk Society is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and entirely volunteer driven.
