Brown Bags and Books Club Discussion

    11:30 -12:30
    March 19, 2019

    Waushara County:

This new book club, presented by Vision 2020, is aimed at raising awareness about the economic challenges facing our community and our country. Bring a lunch to the Wautoma Public Library on Tuesday, March 19th from 11:30-12:30pm to join the discussion. March’s book will be “Nickel and Dimed” by Barbara Ehrenreich. Barbara left home, taking the cheapest lodgings she could find and working whatever jobs she was offered. Going across the country, she worked as a waitress, a hotel maid, a cleaning woman, a nursing-home aide, and a Wal-Mart sales clerk. ‘Nickel and Dimed’ takes us “undercover” into the life of the unskilled worker to reveal the dark side of American prosperity. Copies of this month’s book will be available for check out at the Wautoma Public Library. If you are unable to attend the meeting but would still like to discuss the book, join in on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/313550852571961/.

Ripon Public Library Event: Adult Game Night - Deck Builders

    18:00 -20:00
    March 19, 2019

Get your game face on and enjoy modern board games at the Ripon Public Library on Tuesday, March 19 at 6:00 P.M.! This month we are featuring Legendary as we focus on deck building games. Harry Potter Hogwarts Battle, Karmaka, and Grifters will also be available to play.  Bring your favorites to share! Adult Game Night meets monthly on the third Tuesday of the month. For a game description, instructions and video tutorials for this month’s featured game, visit our website at www.riponlibrary.org/Deckbuilding.

What are Deck Building games? According to BoardGameGeek, “Deck building/Pool building refers to a collection of related mechanisms. Players have a personal pool, or collection, of cards or tokens, that provide different actions and/or resources. A subset of those cards/tokens are randomly drawn each turn. An important aspect of the game lies in managing the contents of that pool by adding and removing cards and tokens over the course of the gameplay, often through the very actions provided by the cards/tokens themselves. Over time, players build decks/pools that are more and more specialized and effective towards some purpose(s), typically including claiming victory objectives.”
