  • Memorial Scholarships for Residents of Waushara County

    Jim and Charlotte Bleskey Memorial Scholarship:

    A $500 scholarship will be awarded annually.

    • Applicants must be a resident of Waushara County

    • Applicants must be pursuing a degree/career in an agricultural related field.

    • The scholarship is available to anyone pursuing higher education.

    • An applicant can only receive the scholarship once.

    • Scholarship payment will be made directly to school once a current transcript and proof of enrollment in second semester is received.

    • Application needs to be postmarked or email by April 1, 2019

    • Applicants are not required to be Farm Bureau members, but a priority will be given to applicants or their parents that are members.

    Gordon Krentz Memorial Scholarship:
    Scholarship eligibility is based on the following:

    • Current Waushara County Farm Bureau member or a son/daughter of a current Waushara County Farm Bureau member

    • Post-secondary education commitment

    • Current cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (B average).  This “B” average must be maintained through your post-secondary education first semester or the scholarship money will be forfeited.

  • Blue Ribbon Kids Day Event Seeks Exhibitors

    Planning is underway for Blue Ribbon Kid’s Day, a family fun and resource fair held in Waushara County each April during Child Abuse Prevention month. Blue Ribbon Kid’s Day will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at Parkside School in Wautoma.
    Blue Ribbon Kid’s Day attracts nearly 1000 parents, grandparents and children who learn and practice safety skills, discover area resources and enjoy a morning of free family focused fun. It is the largest free family event offered in Waushara County. Blue Ribbon Kid’s Day is a past Beyond the Blue Ribbon Award recipient, and has been recognized by the Children’s Trust Fund, Child Abuse Prevention Fund and Prevent Child Abuse Wisconsin.
    Organizations interested in providing an exhibit regarding parenting, safety, and other services that promote healthy families or offer a family activity are encouraged to apply. There is no cost. For more information or to request exhibitor guidelines and application, contact Angie Konieczki at 920-787-6550 or angie.konieczki@co.waushara.wi.us. The application deadline is March 1, 2019.

    Join the fun for a good cause by signing up to participate in the WAFD/Dive Team’s Polar Plunge. The plunge registration starts at 12:00pm on Sunday, February 24th at Silvercryst Supper Club and Resort. An ice demonstration will take place at 12:30pm followed by the plunge, a delicious meal, and raffle drawings. Enter for a chance to win several huge prizes that you don’t have to be present for. Tickets are $5.00 each or 6 for $20 and you can contact any fire department member to purchase.

    The Community Blood Center will host a blood drive on Monday, February 25th at the WWII Memorial Building from 10:00am-4:00pm. To schedule an appointment, call the Community Blood Center at 800-280-4102. Scheduling an appointment in advance helps to ensure a speedy donation for all. The WWII Memorial Building is located at 440 West Main Street, Wautoma.

  • Penial Welsh Chapel Benefit Dinner & Auction

    The historic Peniel Welsh Chapel Association invites all to attend a wonderful benefit Dinner Concert & Auction on Thursday February 28, at 5:30pm at Peace Lutheran Church in Rosendale. The dinner concert will feature vocal & instrumental -classical, jazz, Celtic and Hymns performed by Peniel Musicians and other Wisconsin talent. A pie, dessert and art auction will follow. Proceeds go to the Peniel Welsh Chapel exterior renovation project. Suggested donation is $15.00 before the event and $20.00 at the door. Call 920-748-3090 for information.
