  • Ripon Library…Adult Game Night–Lords of Waterdeep
    18:00 -20:00
    May 15, 2018

Adult Game Night – Lords of Waterdeep

    Tuesday, May 15 at 6:00 P.M.

Put your game face on and head over to the Ripon Public Library on Tuesday, May 15 at 6:00 P.M. for some kids-free, adult gaming. This month we will focus on games that use the worker placement game mechanic. Our feature game will be Lords of Waterdeep, in which players take on the role of the secret rulers of the city to recruite adventurers for quests that increase your influence over the city. Copies of Champions of MidgardRobinson Crusoe, and Smash Up will also be available for participants to explore. What is worker placement games? As Board Game Geek describes it, “More precisely referred to as “action drafting”, this mechanism requires players to select individual actions from a set of actions available to all players. Players generally select actions one-at-a-time and in turn order. There is usually a limit on the number of times a single action may be taken. Once that limit for an action is reached, it typically either becomes more expensive to take again or can no longer be taken for the remainder of the round. As such, not all actions can be taken by all players in a given round.”  For a game description, instructions and a video tutorial for our feature game, Lords of Waterdeep, please visit our website at www.riponlibrary.org/WorkerPlacement.Did we miss any worker placement games you enjoy? Bring your favorites to share! Adult Game Night meets the third Tuesday of every month at 6:00 P.M.

Visit us on Facebook, www.facebook.com/RiponPublicLibrary, to preview our upcoming summer events!

These programs are free and open to the public. Call the library at 748-6160 or contact Mandy Sprague at msprague@riponlibrary.org for more information.

SYNC returns for another summer of free audiobook downloads

AudioFile Magazine is gearing up to give readers free audiobook downloads ALL summer long! SYNC has been offered since Summer 2010 and returns on April 26, 2018 as AudioFile Magazine’s commitment to introducing the listening experience to teens.

SYNC audiobook titles are given away in themed pairs. Each week, two different books (one modern Young Adult book and one classic book) will be available to download for FREE. You have just those 7 days to download the books before the next two books are available, but then they are yours to keep FOREVER. All you need to participate is an email address and OverDrive for your phone or computer.

New audiobooks post each Thursday, from April 26 through July 25, 2018. To see a SYNC schedule and to listen to a sample clip of the new books available each week head over to www.riponlibrary.org. • Ripon Summer Concert Series-Jazz on the Green
    19:00 -22:00
    May 31, 2018

See brochure for full line up……Ripon Summer Concert Series 2018

June 1st through August 31st.  The concerts run from 7:00 to 10:00 pm and take place at The Village Green located at the corner of Watson and Seward Street in downtown Ripon.

For the 26th consecutive summer, the streets of downtown Ripon will be filled with the sound of music when the Ripon Summer Concert Series returns. This year’s series includes a greater variety of music than ever before. Organized by Ripon Main Street, Inc., the free outdoor concer series will begin on Thursday, May 31st with performances by the RMS and RHS Jazz Bands. The entertainment continues on Friday, June 1st with Wisconsin’s premier 80s rock cover band Cherry Pie.

The series features a diverse group of entertainers encompassing a wide range of musical styles. Several community favorites are returning to the lineup including Cherry Pie, Road Trip, Star Six Nine and Vic Ferrari. New groups including FBI & the Untouchable Horns, Incendio and Keith Anderson. We believe you will find the mixture of new bands and old favorites very appealing.

The series typically takes place on Friday evenings, June through August, but occasionally bonus concerts are added or events rescheduled due to weather issues. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to sit on. NO CARRY-INs are allowed in the park because beverage sales help cover entertainment expenses. Free music isn’t really free.

A special Thank You goes out to the local businesses that sponsor the music series. Let them know you appreciate the financial commitment they have made to our community. We are grateful to have their support, because there would not be a concert series without their financial assistance.

Ripon Main Street, Inc. invites you to enjoy an evening of entertainment in historic downtown Ripon and discover what makes our community so special.
