    Thursday, October 6th, Carrying a Concealed Weapon Class at FVTC. This is a Wisconsin Department of Justice sanctioned course designed to give you all the pertinent facts and information on carrying a concealed weapon in the state of Wisconsin. This course will cover all legal aspects in the use of deadly force, as well as weapons safety, handling and storage. Upon completion of this training, you will receive a proof of training certificate that will assist you in applying for a concealed carry permit in Wisconsin. This class will be held at the FVTC Wautoma Regional Center from 5-9pm and will cost $22.32 per person. To register for this class, call FVTC at 920-787-3319.

    A Spectacular Fall Run and Walk for All Ages.  The Ninth Annual Reach the Peak Race will be held at Nordic Mountain Ski Resort on Saturday, October 8th. Registration forms are available at local businesses, online at www.reachthepeakrace.com and at www.active.com, search for Reach the Peak 2016. Race registration will also be held at Nordic Mt Ski Resort on Friday, October 7th 6-8pm during the Spaghetti Dinner, and on race day from 8-9:00am with the ThedaCare Kids Fun Run starting at 9:15am, the 15K race at 10am and the 5K walk/run at 10:15am. This year will also feature a more challenging 2 Mile Kids Run for boys and girls 10-15 years of age at 9:10am, and the Family Stroll is back again this year to encourage the entire family to participate on the one-mile kids course starting at 10:20am. Gather your group together to run the race or volunteer to help hydrate the runners, cheer them on and/or assist with race day preparations. Water station volunteer teams will be located at the two, four, six and eight mile markers on the 15K route which follows country roads to the peak of Mt. Morris before runners descend the hill to the finish line. Volunteer teams should sign up now to secure their spot on the course. Other volunteer opportunities include course clean up, marking and inspection on October 2nd from 1-4pm at Nordic Mt. A spaghetti supper, sponsored by Christiano’s, will be held from 6-8pm on Oct. 7th at Nordic Mt. Ski Resort. Volunteers will be needed to help serve and register participants the night before as well as to help with race prep the day of the race. Reach the Peak proceeds benefit students attending the Wautoma Area School District A+ After School Programs. Last year 397 students attended the A+ programs with nearly 250 students attending daily. Organizers invite After School parents, program advocates, running enthusiasts, community members, businesses and civic organizations to join the fun as a runner, walker or an event volunteer or sponsor. Are we in the cloud now? These are all questions you’ve probably heard or even asked yourself. In this workshop, they will help you understand the pros and cons of cloud computing in business. Specifically, they will outline the needs to consider overall value and liability of doing your billing/accounting from Cloud Based providers as opposed to keeping the billing/accounting on your own computer.

    “The 4th Saturday Lunch has a new name: Community Last Saturday Lunch. This lunch was started after the Tornado in 1992 and has continued through the years.  Area churches and civic organizations provide the meal.  Waushara County Residents are invited to come to this free meal held the last Saturday of the month.  Donations are welcome to help offset the cost of the meal.

    Our Saviour’s United Church of Christ will hold its 14th annual family style turkey dinner on Saturday October 29th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Our Saviour’s Church, 343 Scott Street, in Ripon.

    The dinner consists of roast turkey, dressing, mashed potatoes and gravy, squash, sauerkraut, vegetable, cranberry relish, dinner rolls, dessert (pumpkin or apple), coffee, and milk.

    Both dine-in eating and carry-outs will be available from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. In addition, home delivery is available for both noon (11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.) and evening (5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.) dining. Please call the church office (748-2544) by noon Thursday October 27th to reserve a home delivery, and please specify noon or evening delivery when placing your home delivery order

    The cost is $10 for adults, $9 for seniors over 65, $5 for children 4 to 10, and children under 4 eat for free. Tickets are available in advance at Our Saviour’s Church office, Ripon Drug, and BMO Harris Bank. Tickets will be available at the door on Saturday evening.

    This year 10% of the profits will go to the “Students in Need Fund”, run through School Resource Officer Lindsey Michaels, and supported by the Ripon Area Education Foundation. The Students in Need Program is based solely on donations from the community to provide immediate assistance to students and families in need. The program is not a long-term solution; it is gift card based, meaning that students and/or families are given gift cards to help them with some immediate basic needs.
